Lotus Antique Vintage Cars is a British car manufacturer of racing and sports cars which is located at former site of RAF Hethel, a Second World War airfield in Norfolk. The company specializes in manufacturing and designing lightweight race automobiles that offer fine handling characteristics. In the year 1994, Lotus went bankrupt which is now owned by Bugatti owner Proton. The company was found in the year 1952 by Colin Chapman, a graduate of University College, London as Lotus Engineering Limited. The first manufacturing plant of Lotus was located behind Railway Hotel, Hornsey, North London and the first vehicle manufactured and launched by the company was Team Lotus which was spilt off later in the year 1954.
